Who's Afraid or Red, Yellow and Blue
CIESLARCZYK, Adolphe
Color aquatint printed on wove paper. Edition of 40. Published by Jacqueline de Champvallins, Paris. Signed and numbered "35/40" in pencil.
Born in Germany, Adolphe Ciezlarczyk (1916-2024) has lived in France since childhood. He worked for many years in a foundry, which certainly helps explain why he is mostly a sculptor. However, Ciezlarczyk is a multifaceted artist, who has transposed his abstract esthetic into painting and printmaking as well. Well-versed in aquatint, his bright compositions, often nearly square, are printed in editions of 40 to 75. While these works are meant to evoke, Ciezlarczyk does not depict. He leaves that to our imagination. At the tender age of 108, Adolphe Ciezlarczyk passed away.
