The Hammock (bon à tirer)
Le Hamac (original French title)
Etching and drypoint printed on light-gray laid paper.
Reference: Wentworth 46.
The “bon à tirer” impression, before the edition of circa 100. Unique as such.
Signed by the artist, and annotated “Bon à Tirer” in large pencil writing. One of only a handful of such bon à tirer impressions to have survived.
Provenance: - Studio sale, lot #82 (as mentioned by Wentworth).
- Henri M. Petiet, Paris (Lugt 5031).
- Bearing the red “JCC” collector stamp (not in Lugt).
A very fine, atmospheric impression, with small margins top and sides (likely as printed). Overall in fine condition, but with schmutz and some small faint flecks on the verso; two pinholes.
