Du Haut des Tours de Notre-Dame
Lithograph printed in 12 colors on chine paper.
Reference: Fields page 77.
Plate 7 from the series “Payages Parisiens”.
Proof impression of the deluxe edition on short-fiber China paper. This paper gives the composition an even frostier feeling than the ones on the typical cream-colored wove paper. Impressions on China paper are usually signed and numbered, and from a very scarce edition of 25. This impression must have been printed for that deluxe edition, but was not signed or numbered. This composition, one of Rivière’s most famous, has become hard to find in either edition. On this kind of paper, it is particularly scarce.
Printed & published by Eugène Verneau, Paris.
There is some soiling in the full margins, which doesn't affect the image or the overall value of this amazing large print, which is otherwise conserved in very fine condition.
