Description

Pierre BONNARD (1867-1947)

Femme Debout dans Sa Baignoire (original French title)

Lithograph on wove paper.
References: Bouvet 94; Frapier 11.
One of 25 signed and numbered impressions in the third or fourth state of four. There were also and unsigned edition of 100.  Scarce as such.
Bouvet states that the signed edition of 25 (third state) doesn't have the monogram scraped in the upper right corner, while the fourth and final state, which is unsigned, does.  It seems the monogram appears in some, but not all of the signed impressions.  It is likely Bonnard simply picked 25 impressions to sign, monogram or not.
Published by Galerie des Peintre-Graveurs, with the drystamp (Lugt 1057b).
Signed and numbered in pencil.
Provenance: Henri M. Petiet, with his monogram stamp on the verso.
