View full detailsCharles Jouas (1866-1942) was a prolific draftsman. He painted mostly watercolors, and the odd oil on canvas. His métier, however, was using graphite, ink, and the etching needle. Jouas mostly etched for illustrations, but on occasion also for loose, fine art compositions. He gravitated towards the historic aspects of cities. He primarily depicted buildings such as churches, bridges or town halls, but at times also shows city life or a picturesque corner of a landscape. His oeuvre has yet to be studied or catalogue. The extent of his talents are therefore unknown to the general public, which make his work generally affordable.
