Déplacement (original French title)

Aquatint printed black ink on BFK Rives wove paper, with a silver background tint.
Edition of 100.
Published by Georgetown Graphics Inc for the Print Collectors Club, Washington DC.
It is unclear where Kihara was residing when he printed this aquatint.  He has enrolled at Atelier 17 in Paris in 1970 and honed his printmaking skills there.  But Kihara learned quickly and by 1975 his technique was masterful, as this print amply demonstrates.  It is also not clear whether the silver tint in the background is printed, or obtained with the use of a  chine-collé.
Signed, numbered, dated, and titled in pencil.

The density of the drawing and the precision of the line of this aquatint cannot be overstated.  Kihara's technique truly boggles the mind.
